April is a successful business leader, speaker and educator who is passionate about using the knowledge, insight, wisdom and resources gained through her life experiences to encourage, empower and inspire those around her. She has served as a speaker, teacher and subject matter expert on a plethora of topics including, but not limited to, financial literacy, college affordability, real estate, entrepreneurship, gainful employment, professional development, personal development, communication, marriage and relationships. April holds a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s degree in business as well as a master’s degree in Management Information Systems. She resides in Sunny South Florida where she serves as an educational leader and a co-franchise owner along with her husband.

While April now enjoys a rewarding personal and professional life, this was not always her story. The product of a broken home, April was a single parent and high school drop out by the age of 19. Her minimal education and limited resources landed her in a minimum wage job that barely put food on the table or covered the bare necessities for her and her newborn son. Unable to find a place she could afford, April’s only option was to reside in public housing. She was placed in a local housing project where hearing gunfire or observing illegal activity was a common occurrence. While she was grateful for the roof over their head, she was heartbroken by the reality of her circumstances, her inability to provide her son the life she desired and a future that did not look promising. April knew that she had to do something, so she did the only thing she could do; she took one-step in the right direction. April began her life-course correction by completing her high-school requirements. At that time, she was unaware that this small, seemingly basic step was just the beginning of what would ultimately become her journey from desperation to desired destination. One step at a time in the right direction.

April’s story is one of triumph against the odds. From single teenage mom and high school drop out to dual degree holder, investor, and multi-business owner, she is living proof that, when you have the right strategy, you are never too far off course to realize your dreams. April has served as a mentor and coach to many over the past twenty-plus years, imparting knowledge and providing tools and resources that pave the way to a better quality of life.

April’s vision is to expand her reach to those in need of encouragement, empowerment and inspiration around the globe with the launch of April Showers. Through this community, April will inform, instruct and impart, sharing knowledge, tools and resources that have been tested and proven successful through her own journey.
